New power plant 9 Operating in 2010

Jakarta - PT PLN (Persero) targeting nine Steam Power Plant (power plant) is going into the acceleration of the 10,000 MW project first phase will be operational this year. PLTU-power plant that will add to the national electricity supply until 3266 Megawatt.

According to data cited PLN detikFinance, Friday (29/1/2010) mentions, of the nine targeted power plant operating in this year, mostly located in Java with a total capacity of 3205MW, while remaining outside Java.

The five power plant that will operate this year are:
1. PLTU Labuan Banten with a capacity of 300 MW, has been inaugurated on January 28, 2010.

2. PLTU Suralaya, Banten with a capacity of 1x625 MW commercial operation targeted (Commercial Operation Date / COD) in May 2010.

3. PLTU Indramayu, West Java with a capacity of 3x330 MW, which for unit 1 (330 MW) will operate commercially in June 2010, Unit 2 (330 MW) in September 2010 and 3 units (330 MW) in December 2010.

4. Rembang, Central Java with a capacity of 2x630 MW, where 1 unit of 315 MW of power plant is targeted to its commercial operation in February 2010 and Unit 2 in May 2010.

5. Paiton, East Java with a capacity of 1x660 MW targeted its commercial operation in June 2010.

While for 4 out of Java power plant that will operate this year, namely :

1. PLTU Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands, with a capacity of 2x7 MW, for unit 1 of 7 MW will enter into the electricity system in November 2010, while 2 new units in commercial operation in January 2011.

2. PLTU New Bangka, Bangka Belitung with a capacity of 2x30 MW, where the unit 1 (30 MW) will be operating commercially in November 2010 and Unit 2 (30 MW) in January 2011.

3. PLTU Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, with a capacity of 2x10 MW, where the unit 1 (10 MW) will be operating commercially in December 2010, while Unit 2 (10 MW) will be operational in February 2011.

4. PLTU ENDE, East Nusa Tenggara with a capacity of 2x7 MW, where the unit 1 (7 MW) will operate commercially in October 2010 and unit 2 (7 MW) at December 2010.

Specifically to overcome the electricity crisis in the Outer Java-Bali PLN is currently preparing various strategic measures such as renting an emergency generator with a total capacity of 400 MW, revitalize / relocation of machinery, and buy excess power up to 165 MW.

Sever challenge will facing Celuk Silversmiths if they did not get any alert action immediately. It is due to the decrease of quality and image will become their boomerang. Not to mention that there will be global marketing competition with outside products especially from China.

Quality prioritize will support Celuk silversmiths decent image. Deterioration happened when one of the silversmith intentionally reducing the silver level in handicraft product by mixing it with iron or cooper.

This was revealed when Celuk silversmiths’ community or known as Celuk Design Center (CDC) with Gianyar Regent as its audience on Wednesday (January 27th). The board of CDC, I Kadek Anom Muliantara said there are varied problems faces by the silversmiths and one of them is silver level manipulation onto their marketing handicraft products. This manipulation happens due to the bad silver processing or mix the silver with iron intentionally. “For instance, 925 is a good silver lever but it decrease due to the cooper mixing and it then become fake silver. This was a new problem for us,” he said.

Anom said, that manipulation happen since the silversmiths want to make high profit from selling their products with such a low price. It cause Celuk silver image get slumped and damage the marketing.

Toward that problem, his party wishes for Gianyar provincial government immediately take preventive action so it would not harmed other silversmiths. Related to that problem, his party HKI certificate is an important thing for silversmiths to maintain its product quality. Anom also wish silversmiths togetherness in facing global marketing competition. If not doing so then the silver marketing will get lost with silver products outside Bali. CDC establishment itself is part of a reaction concerning the decrease of young generation interest toward silver. CDC also stand as an organization that could maintain the descend preservation of silver craft values of art as well as the center of silver craft development site who could exist and compete continuously.

Celuk silversmiths in CDC already have 20 members who got IGDS award (Indonesian Good Design) from RI President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on December 28th, 2009. Gianyar Regent, Cok Ace really appreciated the movements CDC conducted as he also saluted their achievements in national level. Toward every problems and hopes delivered to him, the regent directly ordered head of Gianyar Trading and Industrial Division, Ir. Wayan Suamba, M.T. to take several concrete steps. One of them is concerning the facilitation and acceleration of HKI administration management and if it is needed the officers who come to those silversmiths.

Waste Keep Flowing to Kuta Beach

The officer of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Board of Region III Agency estimated that the waste will continued to be flood to Kuta Beach of Badung regency until March 2010.

“The garbage pilling up at Kuta Beach and its surrounding were sent from the highland with high intensity rainfall. As for Bali, the high rainfall happened will keep continuously take place until March,” said Chief of Service subdivision of BMKG Region III Denpasar, I Nyoman Suwarsa to Antara in Denpasar on yesterday Friday.

Kuta Beach and surrounding areas in recent weeks littered with piles of garbage in the form of leaves, plastic and wood pieces that disrupt the scene. Although the officer was trying their best to clean the entire waste, but they kept coming.

According to Suwarsa, that waste carried by the rainwater from the highland in the northern part of Badung and Tabanan Regency. The waste is following the flow of the river and pile up on the beach, including within it are Kedonganan and Jimbaran beach.

He argued that currently, the sun which previously at the south nowadays moved toward the north and approached its middle position. Thus, triggers high air evaporation in such a high intensity and potentially caused the high rainfall to be happened.

In relation with the piles of waste in Kuta, the Chairman of Kuta Beach Task Force Unit, I Gusti Ngurah Tresna said that his party had tried cleans the garbage so as not to interfere with tourists conformity who visits this tourism object.

“We have mobilized task force officers and merchants, starting at dawn until late in the afternoon to clean up the garbage. But we get overwhelmed to deal with this season waste,” he said.

He said in this occasion to that in order to clean the waste along Kuta beach he mobilized 33 officers and a thousand of people from those merchants who sell on this white sandy beach.
