PLN Bali Rent Generator for Electricity Crisis

New generator will arrive in several steps. The first one will come on June 2010 with 30 MW power and in the end of 2010 for about 50 MW. That will covering PLTG Gilimanuk yet to operate maximal until today whilst from this generator 130 MW electricity acquired. Before, Bali also went through twice rotating black out that is on October-November 2009 continued to November 2009 until January 10th 2010 due to the PLTG Gilimanuk maintenance. Rotating black out happened for about five hours, from 06.00 p.m. up to 11.00 p.m. strangely Arifudin did not want PLTG Gilimanuk becomes the main treat of rotating black out occurred once again in Bali.

He also added that the government planned for TDL raising for the costumers who had 5.600 volt ampere electricity which is about 15 percent. Purwono also said that, before, TDL planned to raise it on January 2010 but the president decided to delay it.

Purwono also said that the government will remain subsidized those who have 450 volt ampere and 900 VA starting form 2014.

That policy, he continued, has been arranged in road map of electricity subsidy transfer from 2010 to 2014. According to him, electricity supply needs quite big investment whilst low middle customers have such a low ability makes the government still subsidized them. In another side the government will keep raise their electrical service for the customers. “It makes the low middle customers will get best quality service but with low price,” he said

Phuket Film Fest in June

Second annual of Phuket Film Festival is set to take place on the island in June. The event that will be held from June 4 to 13 is hope by the organizers to be bigger and better than the last festival in 2007.
In that debut festival, the seven day celebration was screening 40 films from 15 different countries, attracting a crowd of more than 3.600 people to Phuket theaters. In 2008, the festival went on hiatus, aiming to return in 2009. But, the volatile political situation in Thailand that year forced the organizers to cancel.

“The Cannes International Film Festival historically had a rocky three-to-four-year start and while we don’t want to emulate them, we sure do want to grow up to be like them,” said Scott Rosenberg, director of the Phuket filmfest. The organizers recently released a Call for Entries.

Filmmakers are invited to submit ‘screeners’ of features, documentaries, shorts and animations for possible screenings at the event. Preference will be given to award-winning filmmakers and world or Asian premiers. The 2010 Festival expects to screen about 30 to 40 films. Submissions will be accepted until April 30, 2010. There is a fee of US$50 for each submission.

Jasa Raharja Increase Their Service

Thus, was the result of MoU Polda Bali and Jasa Raharja on Friday (January 29) at mapolda Bali. Present in that MOU, Kapolda Bali Irjen Pol Sutisna, Head of Jasa Raharja A.A. Ngurah Tustha, provincial secretariat, Nyoman Yasa and Pomdam IX Udayana, Dan Lanal and 5 head of hospitals in Bali.

According to Kapolda Bali Irjen Pol Sutisna, MoU policy is straightly dedicated to the five hospitals in Bali. They are RSUP Sanglah, RSAD Udayana Denpasar, Trijata Polda Bali Hospital, Tabanan Hospital and Puri Raharja Hospital.

This cooperation aimed to raise the quality and service affectivity for the traffic accident victim that is under the guarantee of the State Bill No. 33 and 34 1964 Jo PP No. 17 and 18 1965.

All this time, said Kapolda, appear an opinion that there is discrimination when traffic accident services take place. The victim comes from higher social status in other word rich will receive special treatment compared with those who did not have enough money to begin with.

Meanwhile, AA Ngurah Tusta said, MoU prevail for all victims as long as they have identity card. Although, Jasa Raharja would not give any compensations service for those who felt by themselves since it was not included in traffic bill category.

“Pedestrian who get hit also receive compensation. For those who died will get Rp 25 million and maximum Rp 10 million for the treatment,” he said.

The most important thing is recommendation obligation from the police if someone become the victim from a traffic accident, thus obligate the hospital to handle it at once.

Bicycles Special Track in Denpasar

To support and socialize Denpasar program for Car Free Day as well as Friday Bicycle, Denpasar Capitol Government will make special track for bicycles riders.
Nowadays there has been simulation and road tracks around Denpasar and according to the plan will be launched on the next February 21st.

It is, as been said by Ketua Sekretariat Bersama Komunitas Sepeda Denpasar (Samas) – Chairman of Denpasar Bike Community Joint Secretariat – I Dewa Made Merthakota after met Denpasar Mayor, I.B Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra on Thursday (January 28th).

According to Merthakota, temporarily the bicycle lines will be around Renon and Sanur and will develop more in the near future.

Moreover, he continued that people’s welcoming well toward this program. It proved from the car free day track on August last year keep flooded by bicycles enthusiasts.

“Beside there are numbers of individual bicycle riders in Denpasar, there has been lot of bicycle clubs appear in this city too. This condition showed good signal for our effort in preserving the environment when global warming or climate change become the main attention along with the increasing numbers of vehicle riders,” said this tassel-haired man.

Furthermore, Mertakhota explained that in order to give clear border toward this bicycle tracks, there will be markers or signs to be known by the people.

“Highways user community especially those who ride motor cycles are urged to give priority for bicycle riders in using their own tracks,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Major of Denpasar, I.B Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra confessed that he totally support the making of bicycle special tracks in Denpasar.

“If the people willingly want to use bicycle to their offices, schools as well as other activities of course it will reduce traffic jam in Denpasar,” said Rai Mantra.

Tanah Lot Tourism Object Management Association wish for Joged Bumbung festival will attract art and culture creativity from artisans in Tabanan.

Operational Manager of Tanah Lot tourism object, I Made Sujana reported that in the first day of this festival, there was art performance from Baturiti District of Penebel Marga and from Kerambitan District delegation. The next day (January 29) from West Selemadeg District, Selemadeg, East Selemadeg and Kediri District, whilst on Saturday (January 30) the audience will be presented art performance from Tabanan and Pupuan district.

Made Sujana wished for the involvement of the tourist to dance together with the performers of that festival. That, in its own way will give special impression for tourism in Bali and will stand as the part of oral tourism promotion.
All this time, he said, Tanah Lot tourism object has been consistent in preserving varied of Balinese culture in which it was starting with Tanah Lot art festival 2009.

Tanah Lot management party also presented award for those artisans as for their effort in protecting and maintaining Balinese culture through their creative idea.

“Throughout this cultural festival, we wish for it could give additional values in the point of view for those who visit Bali,” said Made Sujana.

The tourists who participate to dance, all of them wore Balinese traditional costume such as sarong and scarf tied around their waist.

In this festival the committee required modest movement for the dancer as well as to the tourists who dance accompanied the dancer including prohibited to show porno and vulgarism action.

This intended to protect the root of Balinese culture, especially for Joged dance that was once a polite social dance and far from vulgarity impression.

Monkeys Attack Pesedehan Village Farmers

Thousand of wild monkeys lived at Bebukitan in Pesedehan Village of Manggis District Karangasem since the last few years destructed local farmers’ activity. None of the plant could grow.
“Those monkeys also spilled out tuak – Balinese liquor whilst one of the farmers gathered it from the palm tree,” said Kelian Pesedahan Village, I Nyoman Wage S.H. at Amlapura on Thursday.

Practically the farmer did not produce anything. Wage said that for the farmer who planted potatoes or cassavas, their plant were pulled out up to the root until it could not grow anymore. The farmer also could not put any hope for the bananas or other fruit plants due to the act of those naughty monkeys.

“The farmer gain no benefit from rented Pasedehan land,” he continued.

The land was rented for Rp 300.000 up to Rp 500.000 per year and it usually bring the farmer pineapple, cassava, liquor and more.

“Pineapple becomes farmer pledge but due to those naughty monkeys it failed to fruit, the farmer here totally attacked by monkey pests,” he added.

Initially, Pesedahan income target per year is around three million rupiah, it was difficult for them to gain the same number this time due to the damage created by that monkeys.

“It’s hard to chase them away since its huge numbers and they also packed the hill,” he said.

I Made Sardana from Pesedehan village also said the same thing. At first, said Sardana, there is only small number of monkeys at Sang Hyang Ambu Hill. In fact, the development of this last five years showed that their number get increase and usually disturb the farmers.

“It is hard for us to abolish or chase them away. If we get it wrong then the farmer will become their object of resentment,” said Sardana.

The only way they could do was conducted hunting activity to the hill. Those monkeys afraid with human who carried gun but still if the condition has been quite they act naughty again,” added Sardana.

The same thing also confessed by the figure in Tenganan Pagringsingan Village of Manggis District, I Nyoman Sadra, B.A.

“Farmers here are suffering from those naughty monkeys. At Tenganan, all duku fruit also engulfed,” said Sadra whose village neighbored with Pesedahan Village.

Regarding pineapple, cassavas, banana and mango completely engulfed by those monkeys.

“Only durian that is still safe from that monkey’s destruction, it only gets damage from squirrels,” added Sadra.
