Joged Bumbung Festival at Tanah Lot in Tabanan Regency Bali was involving domestic and non-domestic tourists to participate in it.
The participants were given calendar gift and VCD fill with promotion of that favorite tourism object.
The tourists’ involvement in this social dance, kind of tayub in Java, will be scheduled to be held for three days starting from Thursday, was able to enliven festival atmosphere opened by Tabanan Vice Regent, I Gusti Gede Putra Wirasana.
The appearance of some foreign and domestic tourists in traditional Balinese costumes, with their varied of irregular movements often invite laughs from the crowd and makes the atmosphere more festive.
The activity aimed at conserving varied of Balinese culture, attended by many quarters. This activity also part of Tahun Kunjungan Museum Indonesia 2010 – Year of Indonesian Museum Visits 2010 – celebration as well as a commemorate toward the huge agenda concerning Tanah Lot art festival that will be held in the middle of this year.
Tanah Lot Tourism Object Management Association wish for Joged Bumbung festival will attract art and culture creativity from artisans in Tabanan.
Operational Manager of Tanah Lot tourism object, I Made Sujana reported that in the first day of this festival, there was art performance from Baturiti District of Penebel Marga and from Kerambitan District delegation. The next day (January 29) from West Selemadeg District, Selemadeg, East Selemadeg and Kediri District, whilst on Saturday (January 30) the audience will be presented art performance from Tabanan and Pupuan district.
Made Sujana wished for the involvement of the tourist to dance together with the performers of that festival. That, in its own way will give special impression for tourism in Bali and will stand as the part of oral tourism promotion.
All this time, he said, Tanah Lot tourism object has been consistent in preserving varied of Balinese culture in which it was starting with Tanah Lot art festival 2009.
Tanah Lot management party also presented award for those artisans as for their effort in protecting and maintaining Balinese culture through their creative idea.
“Throughout this cultural festival, we wish for it could give additional values in the point of view for those who visit Bali,” said Made Sujana.
The tourists who participate to dance, all of them wore Balinese traditional costume such as sarong and scarf tied around their waist.
In this festival the committee required modest movement for the dancer as well as to the tourists who dance accompanied the dancer including prohibited to show porno and vulgarism action.
This intended to protect the root of Balinese culture, especially for Joged dance that was once a polite social dance and far from vulgarity impression.
