Rabies accomplishment case with 2010 Bali program free from rabies starting to get some assistance from foreign countries. One of them is Australian government with 600.000 vials contribution of anti rabies vaccine for dogs. On the next June, proclaimed as anti-rabies month, those 600.000 vials vaccine is ready to use. Formerly head of rabies special committee as well as member of Commission II DPRD Bali, Nyoman Gede Putra Astawa on Sunday (January 31), mentioned that those vaccine will covering dog vaccination in Bali with number of population reached 500 thousand.

Putra Astawa said that for its maximal effort, dog vaccination should be conducted three times. In another hand the contribution vaccine merely 600 thousands vials makes Bali needs other contribution from outside party. “If we want to get free from rabies, that amount of vaccine is not enough,” said Putra Astawa.

According to Putra Astawa, that vaccine should be brought from the central and hope for the regional government to add that vaccination. “Australia is certainly will give their vaccine contribution. In order to held free-rabies activity the next June, considering the number of vaccine in Bali is not enough due to three times dog vaccinate obligation still we could depend on the vaccine contribution from central,” said Putra Astawa.

Putra Astawa confess that he saluted Governor Made Mangku Pastika government due to his rabies fund which is up to Rp 2.5 billion of rabies vaccine for dogs and another fund accumulation Rp 3.5 billion dedicated to the anti rabies vaccine provision for those who got bite from the dog. “I saluted Bali government due to the raising budget for rabies vaccine. Means that the government totally concerns their matter in this rabies threat,” assessed Putra Astawa.

Separately, the head of Commission II DPRD Bali I Gusti Rai Putra Yasa said that Commission II will going to lobby to the central especially Agriculture Department that also the ones get in charge of Animal Husbandry Directorate General asking for vaccine assistance. It is due to the next June plan concerning massive vaccinate.

“We plan to approach central. Latter commission II will depart together with our delegation in DPR RI Jakarta to ask for their assistance especially from Agriculture Department concerning mass vaccination equipment,” said Putra Yasa. Putra Yasa mentioned not to take rabies threat too lightly, though nowadays this case not too big as before that had give Bali a bad impression. An effort to maintain good impression as a safe and comfortable island should be conducted continuously which will bring impact toward our tourism also, said Putra Yasa.
