Asia best city award for Ubud of Gianyar Bali is according to the 25 thousands Conde Nast Traveler give such a big consequence for that city in arranging the disorders occur in that art hometown.
“We feels grateful and happy, Ubud had been chosen as the best city in Asia with 82.5 score defeated Bangkok, Hong Kong, Chiang Mai and Kyoto. But that brought some consequences for us to rearrange our condition today such as the disorders happened everywhere in the city,” said Gianyar Regent, Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati at Ubud castle on Saturday night.
He confessed that after received award plaques either as Gianyar Regent or as the member of Puri Ubud family as well as represent tourism party as the head of PHRI Bali and on behalf of Ubud Hotels Association.
That award is delivered directly by Chris Mitchell, vice president and Conde Nast Traveler publisher. But because he unable to attend, it then represented by All Purwa, as the representation from Bali Tourism Board.
Chris Mitchell in his message stated his gratitude to the tourists who had visited and chose Ubud as the best city. Selection criteria gave Ubud highest score was Ubud people hospitality, besides atmosphere and cultural/sites ambiance, accommodation, restaurant and place for shopping.
Cok Ace, Tjokorda Oka Ardhana sukawati nickname, said that the most insisting problem need immediate management is traffic disorder, park area at the city, market, arrangement and security at beach area as well as Pakerisan watershed.
he delivered that problems after Pande Suteja Neka as Ubud society representative said that from what he had seen and went through from 1966, nowadays Ubud condition tend to be more in chaos state so it need further arrangement through environment matching arrangement.
“I want to justify here, that this comment does not mean I’m not agree with the award, I just thinks of our city’s disorder until today should be rearrange into a better state and match with our cultural hometown. And, if it possible for us to not only receive as the best city in Asia only but also the best in the world,” said the owner and manager of Art Museum Neka.
Cok Ace explained that Ubud arrangement that is the heart of culture in Bali, with rely on cultural art and natural environment beauty as its tourism attraction had been approved by Bali Provincial Government.
In order to maintain and preserving Ubud tourism potential, that art hometown arrangement as well as building development control as tourism accommodation supporter in Ubud not to clear away the rice-fields. This, also becomes provincial government concern.
“The people together with the government will keep maintaining Ubud tourism potential in order to keep it everlasting included within it, is cultural development effort that nowadays can continued to alive,” he added.
Marion Blanco, the second son from Antonio Blanco, artist from Italy who spend his entire life developed Ubud tourism through art and culture, wish for this cultural hometown will be in equal position with France that stand as the centre of world culture.
“The center of world culture since a long time ago is in France. Now is the time for us to realize Ubud as the center of world culture,” said Mario Blanco who develop Antonio Blanco Museum in Ubud.
Award plaque as the best city in Asia stand as the prove for Ubude defeat Bangkok that received 82.2 points, Hong Kong with 81.3 points, Chiang Mai 80.9 points and 80.2 for Kyoto. That Awards attended by expatriate form varied countries lived around Ubud.
